Ritwik Kumar Ghatak (4 November 1925 6 February 1976) was a Bengali Indian filmmaker, scriptwriter and actor. He was born in Dhaka in East Bengal. He wrote his first play, Kalo sayar, in 1948. In 1951, Ghatak joined the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA). Ghatak acted in the 1950 film Chinnamul. In 1952 Ghatak completed his first Remembering Ritwik Ghatak: 5 best works of this legendary filmmaker.
