Homework assistance programs

The general charge of an afterschool program is to help students succeed in school; and if homework is required by the school, then many afterschool programs see homework support as part of that charge. The afternoon begins with snack and homework, with assistance provided by Woodlynde teachers. Fun and active individual and group play then follows, with outdoor playtime encouraged whenever possible, but gym Assistance to Help Your Child With Homework Good programs have staff to monitor homework and provide help when needed.

This person may be a certified teacher (this is likely if the program is schoolbased). The After School Homework Assistance and Tutorial program starts two weeks after the opening of schools and remains open until the closing of all schools.

We have successfully recruited 28 students for the after school program from the six week summer camp program we provided to the community this year. The Homework Assistance Program is offered to students in second through sixth grades.

Qualified teachers assist students in similar grade levels for a period of time after the teachers scheduled day is over. The program days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3: 45 to 4: 30 or 4: 45 p. m. depending on the age of the students. Homework help is an important part of many afterschool programs. This portion of the toolkit includes content that afterschool staff and program leaders can use to develop and maintain effective practices aimed at improving academic outcomes for students.

The Homework Assistance Program began in the school year and has successfully been helping students with homework organization and task completion since its inception.
